College of Continuing and Professional Education

The CSU Dominguez Hills College of Continuing and Professional Education (CPPE) provides access to the University's resources by offering degree, certificate, post-baccalaureate, and credential programs; in addition, we offer non-credit courses and workshops that are geared toward workforce-readiness and professional development. Programs are offered on-campus in Carson, asynchronously online, live online via Zoom, and at various locations throughout the area. The programs offer faculty the opportunity to experiment with both curriculum and instructional formats.

CCPE programs include Extension programs, Special Sessions programs, Summer Session, Winter Session and May Intersession, bachelor's and master's degrees, Open University, OSHA Training Institute Programs, and the Osher Lifelong Learning Program. CCPE programs are largely financially self-supporting.

Programs

The College provides courses, seminars, workshops, conferences, symposia and a variety of other programs for continuing education of professionals, and for those interested in developing personal and professional goals.

Intersession Programs (Winter and Summer Sessions, and May Intersession)

CCPE offers credit-bearing courses throughout the year through three Intersessions. Winter Session is held from the end of the fall semester and through the first three weeks of January; May Intersession is held from late-May through June; Summer Session is held late-May through mid-August. All offer courses designed primarily to meet the needs of students who wish to accelerate the completion of their degree programs. These courses earn residence credit and are open to any adult who meets the course prerequisites. Intersession courses are self-supporting, and tuition and student fees are charged.

Degree Programs

CCPE offers a variety of degree programs. Online degree programs include the Master of Arts in Humanities, Master of Arts in Negotiation, Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding, Master of Public Administration, Bachelor and Master of Science in Quality Assurance, Master of Science in Radiologic and Imaging Sciences, Master of Science in Systems Engineering, and the Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership Studies. On-campus degree programs include the Master of Science in Accounting, Master of Science in Cyber Security, Master of Science in Orthotics and Prosthetics, and Master of Social Work.

Open University

Through the Open University program, in Fall or Spring terms, high school graduates, working adults, and students from other universities may enroll in most regular CSUDH credit courses on a space-available basis with permission of the instructor. There is no formal admission to the University required and registration is easy. With the permission of their high school counselor and principal, high school students who are juniors and seniors can take lower-division courses.

On a space-available basis, select undergraduate and graduate courses are open to those who meet prerequisites and have instructor approval. Students enroll through the CCPE Registration Office and pay special session fees. Undergraduate students may apply up to 24 semester units earned through the program to a degree. Graduate students may apply a maximum of 9 semester units from Open University to a degree. 

OSHA Training Institute Education Center (OTIEC)

California State University, Dominguez Hills houses the only Los Angeles-based Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Training Institute Education Center (OTIEC). CSUDH OTIEC is authorized to deliver OSHA-approved courses in occupational safety and health to ensure safe and healthful working conditions to safety professionals, workers, supervisors and employers. The OTIEC supports the OSHA training mission by offering a variety of safety courses and certificate programs, as well as engaging in community outreach events.

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI)

With support from the Bernard Osher Foundation, CCPE sponsors the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI@CSUDH) for adults aged 50+ who are seeking intellectual and social activities. This program provides short courses on a variety of topics, including peer-led courses, discussion groups, field trips, computer/technology workshops, social gatherings, and cultural events. These activities are designed for and inclusive to the Senior community but can also be collaborative with the general campus population and involve both in-person and online interactions.
